Pension age
The Pension and Disability Insurance Act sets out two routes to an old-age pension — one by age, one by service length alone.
The general rule: 65 years with 15 godina of service
You qualify for an old-age pension once you reach 65 years with at least 15 godina of insurance service (čl. 17 st. 1 of the Pension and Disability Insurance Act). The rule does not distinguish by sex.
Put the way the question usually arrives: the pension age is the same for women and for men — 65 years. Čl. 17 st. 1 states one age for every employee, with no separate table by sex. The same is true of early retirement.
A second route: 40 godina of service, regardless of age
The law also states a separate, independent route: with 40 godina of effective insurance service, the right to a pension is acquired regardless of age (čl. 17 st. 3). This is not an exception or a transitional measure — it is a regular, second route to the same pension.
